The Atlona AT-VGA300SRS is a twisted pair transmitter and receiver modules for computer video graphics (VGA up to 1920x1200), stereo/digital audio, RS-232 and IR data signals. The transmitter unit converts VGA, Audio, RS-232 and IR inputs to a twisted pair signal (Cat5/6/7), and the receiver module converts the twisted pair signal back into the VGA, Audio, RS-232 and IR data signals. The AT-VGA300SRS is capable of extending signals up to 1000ft and still maintaining very high video resolutions. The sender unit has a local VGA and Audio Loop-Out for a local display to be active without a need of a separate splitter. The extenders are featured built-in EQ and Gain control to compensate for lower quality cable or long distance.

Digital signage in schools

Digital signage is becoming more common in our day to day lives. Atlona Technologies provides solutions to make installing digital signage more cost effective and simple to implement. Digital signage has become more useful in schools, providing class information, events, and general announcements.

Why Atlona?

Claremont McKenna College contacted Atlona Technologies looking for solutions to extend their VGA connection to install their digital signage in six different locations. The installation was also made simpler with the use of RS-232 control for remotely controlling the system. One of Atlona’shelpful support staff assisted Jeremy Whaley of Claremont McKenna collages IT department select the best solution for this project. The product that was chosen for this project was the At-VGA-RS300SRS VGA extender over cat5/6 with RS-232 control.

Atlona Technologies VGA extenders have a low profile, so they are easy to hide behind video panels for a clean looking installation. This allows for the clean simple installation with less clutter. Jeremy Whaley commented on installing Atlona products and this is what he had to say. “We’ve also setup a custom batch file on these units that allow us to turn the TVs on/off remotely using the RS-232 port on the extenders while remotely controlling the pc. This saves us a lot of time as this project has been very time consuming on the back end.We find that these units are great and allow us to do things we didn’t know were possible until now.”
